Beauval Zoo
The equatorial dome is the latest achievement of France’s leading zoo, and also its biggest investment. A one-hectare, pseudo-hemispherical greenhouse over 100 m in diameter, culminating at a height of 38 m, it recreates a series of equatorial biotopes and gives pride of place to the aquatic world. Some thirty aquariums and glass tanks, totalling some 4,500 m3 of water, display a wide variety of species, including fish, arthropods, amphibians, reptiles and water-loving mammals.
